Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Malik Willis had a good debut Thursday contrary to the Baltimore Ravens, and he drew rave reviews on Twitter because of a small number of plays that showcased his athletic prowess.

The 23-year-old finished the initial half having completed 6-of-11 passes for 107 yards, along with rushing for 21 yards and a touchdown on four carries.

Willis got out to a rough begin in the passing game, but begun to pick things up late in the initial quarter and early in the next quarter. The 2022 third-round pick’s performance was highlighted by way of a 7-yard touchdown run with 14: 18 remaining in the next quarter.

Malik Willis is really a DUDE. Fell much too far in the draft. Interested to observe how his career blossoms.

That Malik Willis TD run was Why I liked him as a prospect.

His cannon arm + his rushing capabilities and play extension are fantastic

Ben Arthur @benyarthur

Beautiful TD run from Malik Willis, revealing that elusiveness.

Figure the Titans use Malik Willis in goal line packages immediately. Just so strong/fast.

However the highlight-reel plays didn’t stop there.

Willis’ passing performance was far better in the next quarter as he begun to settle in. He was lauded for his “cannon” of an arm after completing a 48-yard pass to Racey McMath and completing a Patrick Mahomes-esque sidearm pass soon after.

Watching Titans-Ravens on NFL+ tonight to see Malik Willis. Likely wont play much in 2022 regular season, but feels as though eventually (2023?) hell be Titans QB1. Exciting athleticism, run ability, instincts, arm strength + a lot of untapped potential wanting to be developed.

Hes doing sidearm throws now?! @malikwillis

The Titans should play Malik Willis every offensive snap of the preseason. The talent will there be, just needs the reps.

Michael F. Florio @MichaelFFlorio

For this reason many were excited for Malik Willis in draft season

The fantasy upside is quite high – think just like a Jalen Hurts 2.0. Hes raw, but all of the tools is there

Nearly all concerns early in the overall game highlighted how “raw” Willis looked in Tennessee’s first few series. He struggled to perform passes and the Titans were protecting him in his debut.

Howie The Titan @howie_thetitan

The @Titans are actually protecting Malik Willis with the overall game calls. Run, Run, pass. There is a spread one done beyond 3rd down and you also surely got to see Williss legs for a 3 yard gain. Its obvious they need a straightforward debut for Malik.

year 20 @johnrivers131

What did yall expect from Malik Willis? He went 3rd round for grounds bc he could be ultra raw

Luke Sawhook @lukesawhook

Breaking news raw rookie QB Malik Willis looks raw

Malik Willis looks raw Directly after we all said hed be very raw in his first year. Why are yall surprised

Girl QB Enjoyer @ETNfantasyowner

Malik Willis is strictly who we thought he was (up to now)

Lyin Brian @JustBrian___

Yall killing Malik Willis for his first handful of reps. He look good if you ask me these last two series. Too much to focus on but hes much better than what that they had if you ask me

Ultimately, fans expected Willis to be quite raw in his rookie season. However, he showed flashes of his potential on Thursday night, which includes fans excited for his future in the NFL.
