Amanda Nunes has scored her revenge, recaptured lost gold and furthered her legacy in MMA.
In the primary event of UFC 277, Nunes became a two-time UFC womens bantamweight champion with a unanimous decision victory over Julianna Pena. With the win, Nunes is among the most first fighter in UFC history to regain champ-champ status, and also the first two-time UFC womens bantamweight champion.
Nunes also scored an ounce of revenge. Pena defeated her via submission in another of the largest upsets in UFC history at UFC 269 earlier this December for the bantamweight title.

Both women started the opening round slowly, feeling each other out. They traded basic shots and one-twos, though Nunes landed the more notable shots later in the round and scored with low kicks.
Nunes scored early in the next round, dropping Pena with the right hook before letting her up. Pena attemptedto pressure Nunes with a flurry, as she did in the initial fight, but Nunes caught her to arrive with another strong strike to knock her down.
A straight left dropped Pena once again late in the next, though Pena landed a few shots in close prior to the horn.
Pena tried to fire back and throw combinations in the 3rd round, but Nunes took Pena down and experienced guard at the top rapidly, where she just about dominated all of those other round, busting Pena open.
Nunes went for a double-leg to start out the fourth and threw up a guard. Pena pulled off a scare having an armbar attempt, limited to Nunes to lock Pena in her very own, but Pena reversed and had her legs around Nuness neck. Nunes, however, could escape but remained on bottom. As Nunes landed elbows, Pena nearly trapped her within an armbar again. Pena took Nunes down once again.
By the finish of the round, it had been clear Nunes was tired.
Pena took Nunes down again to start out the fifth and attempted a triangle armbar, but Nunes got around it and got a your hands on Penas neck prior to the two returned to your feet. Seconds later, however, Nunes took Pena down. In the fights final minute, Nunes went for a rear-naked choke attempt. Pena could escape but could do only defend because the seconds ticked down.
The judges scored the contest 50-45, 50-44 and 50-43.
