There may be high hopes for the release of Brittney Griner. The Biden Administration Office has provided an offer in trade for Griner’s release.
In accordance with CNN, President Bidens administration presented an offer release a convicted Russian arms trafficker Viktor Bout.
Bout happens to be serving a 25-year sentence in a US prison.
In trade, the admin team is requesting the release of Brittney Griner and Paul Whelan, a US citizen who was simply arrested on alleged espionage charges in 2018.
However, the Department of Justice is contrary to the prisoner trade.
In accordance with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, President Joe Biden advocated for the requested exchange and was directly involved with signing off on the offer.
This approval will overturn any resistance created by the DOJ.
Throughout a press conference held on Wednesday, Blinken announced he plans on having his first conversation this week with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Hoping that the much-needed call will finally bring Griner and Whelan back:

Griners defense team submitted more documents to the court. These included 20 character references from varying charities, sporting organizations, and medical records that prove Griners history of injuries leading to chronic pain.
The lawyers also submitted a document granting permission to utilize cannabis for medical purposes, issued by Arizonas Department of Health.
