For over ten years, Valve has offered usage of Steam through Android and iOS clients. Recently, however, the Steam mobile app hasnt gotten much attention from the business. Not merely does it look dated, but its also a pain to utilize. I only keep it on my iPhone to benefit from Steam Guard verification.

Fortunately that Valve is focusing on a fresh version of the mobile app. In a post spotted by PC Gamer, the business invited invested Steam users to beta test its redesigned Android and iOS client. Weve rebuilt the app on a fresh framework and modernized the look. (2015 called and wanted their app back,) Valve wrote.

Along with previously included features, the redesigned app adds more intelligent notifications, multi-account support and a fresh solution to log into your Steam account. Rather than inputting your username, password and Steam Guard verification, you may use a QR code to simplify the procedure. Its essentially the most useful feature added by Valve.

The early consensus among testers is that the brand new app is really a welcome improvement over its predecessor. It can have the most common blemishes you discover in beta software, including sluggish performance and a lot of bugs, but it is a step forward. The earlier we get your feedback on something, the higher, Valve wrote. That is especially important once the app may be used on a wide variety of phones and devices.

Theres no public release date for the redesigned app yet. However, the beta is available to anyone who would like to take part. You could find installation instructions on the Steam website, but remember that the iOS beta is bound to 10,000 concurrent participants because of Apples TestFlight restrictions.
