What the Colts said after preseason loss to Lions

The Indianapolis Colts lost 27-26 contrary to the Detroit Lions in a preseason matchup Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium, and there have been a lot of takeaways as both teams plan the 2022 season.

With a lot of the starting lineup sitting following two joint practices earlier in the week, we got an excellent consider the depth on the roster. A few of it had been encouraging. A few of it not really much.

Heres what the Colts had to state following a 27-26 loss at Lucas Oil Stadium:

Frank Reich’s opening remarks

Frank Reich: Two injuries to report. Brandon King had a hamstring and Kam (Kameron) Cline had a concussion. Finished up an extremely productive week. Really, what we just said there in the locker room is (we) like where were at. Personally i think like weve had an extremely good week this week. Got done what we wished to have finished against a competitive team. Getting each one of these competitive reps all week, it wasnt nearly tonight, it had been concerning the whole week and felt like we put lots of good stuff on tape. Well continue tomorrow. Im worked up about where were at. Lots of good situational work today. I thought situationally, the right things came up, I thought we taken care of immediately in a great way plus some things we are able to study from.

Dezmon Patmon’s confidence

Frank Reich: He just seemed confident, using some confidence with the ball in his hands and running good routes, creating a play, instinctive plays. Even on the long touchdown, to attain out, that instinct to attain out, that has been an excellent sign there aswell.

Bernhard Raimann making progress

Frank Reich: Naked eye, I simply thought he looked solid. Again, inside, I have to watch the tape. I have a tendency to watch more outside, but really pleased with his progress. Really pleased with his progress. Hes gotten plenty of work and feel just like hes got the proper mindset to keep to obtain better. So, well continue steadily to evaluate where hes at.

Sam Ehlinger making the feeling

Frank Reich: Sams been great. He came up big today on several big plays, had a couple of early mistakes but thats what he does. He overcame a blunder and next drive arrived and you also know made plays. Made a large play to (Mike) Strachan down the field and the throw on the scramble to Dez (Dezmon Patmon) was an excellent throw. It had been shot out of a cannon. So, great play by Sam (Ehlinger).

Mike Strachan developing hot

Frank Reich: Its big. Its appeared like hes gone from zero to 60 in another. There was a month or more back I was thinking, Im not sure hes likely to be ready to apply before season opener. Then, suddenly, he made a speedy recovery and then thing you understand hes on the market catching a big-time touchdown in this game today. Credit to Mike (Strachan) and credit to your training staff.

Dezmon Patmon on his wedding day

Dezmon Patmon: Obviously venturing out there, every receiver really wants to choose 100 yards. Personally i think like provided that I’m on the market making plays that provides faith and promise in the coaching staff they can keep throwing me the ball, and I could venture out there and continue steadily to make plays. So, it felt great.

Ehlinger just scratching the top?

Sam Ehlinger: Absolutely. Absolutely, no question. All over the board, and Im just scratching the top. Its sort of a two-year intend to sort of theres plenty of neurological items that Im fighting. When youre from the field, and the chaos around you increases, naturally, youre likely to revert back again to whatever your nerve wirings in the human brain want one to do once you say, throw the football. So, Im fighting what Ive been doing for a long time and a large number of reps. So, it requires about 2 yrs to break those ideas down. I feel like I’ve made progress for the reason that aspect and also in the offense. Im very more comfortable with the offense and getting more comfortable with defenses.

Ehlinger on the big days for his WRs

Sam Ehlinger: They did a fantastic job. I understand both those guys are young and incredibly talented. Its good to possess Mike (Strachan) back, just what a physical freak. Dez (Patmon) had an excellent day, hes running the ball very difficult, both of these guys. Given that Mikes back he previously an excellent week of practice, Dez has already established an excellent camp, and its own paying down in the overall game.
