Wisconsin Clerks Make 10 New Voter Fraud Referrals for 2020 Election

Municipal clerks in Wisconsin made 22 voter fraud referrals to local district attorneys linked to the 2020 general election in the last two years, in accordance with Wisconsin Elections Commission reports.

The brand new report from the July 22 commission meeting showed 10 cases of voter fraud referrals from the 2020 election. This past year, it listed 12 cases.

The majority of the complaints this time around involved people double votingonce personally as soon as by mail. Others were for impersonating another voter and double voting in two different cities.

An identical pattern was reported in the June 2, 2021, commission meeting. It showed that a lot of of the 12 referrals stemmed from double voting in two cities. Some voted twiceby mail and personally.

The commission submits the reports to hawaii legislature on an annual basis. They’re limited by what clerks are accountable to the commission and dont include any complaints filed by citizens or organizations directly with an area attorney.

This years report showed 73 cases of criminal referrals for voter fraud in multiple elections and the ones during 2021 and 2022.

Most originated from Milwaukee and Brown counties, including a lot more than 50 cases of a person utilizing an improper residential address on the voter registration in multiple elections.

Mike Mikalsen, chief of staff for state Sen. Stephen Nass (R-Whitewater), told The Epoch Times the reports demonstrate a weakness in the voting system that Republicans want to correct.

One potential problem with election security was settled July 8 once the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that drop boxes were illegal, he said.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission made an arbitrary decision to permit permanent drop boxes in the 2020 general election through the pandemic, but many questioned the legality of the boxes.

True the Votes Catherine Engelbrecht testified before a Wisconsin legislative committee this spring, concerning absentee ballots being systematically sent to drop boxes in the Milwaukee County area.

These were illegal, Engelbrecht told The Epoch Occasions when discussing the drop boxes. What happened in 2020 was lawlessness.

Mikalsen said the drop boxes allowed for a vote harvesting bonanza through the 2020 election due to readily accessible information showing who had requested an absentee ballot. That managed to get possible for campaign workers to go to those individuals and potentially collect ballots not yet delivered.

Democrats in hawaii criticized the ruling, saying it creates it harder to vote and undermines free, fair, and secure elections in a democracy.

Although some of the cases outlined in the election commission report may stem from people mistakenly thinking their vote didnt count since they moved to a new address, others were likely purposeful.

Under Wisconsin law, voting twice is illegal irrespective of intent, Mikalsen said but noted that the damage couldnt be undone.

Eventually, these double votes are caught following the fact. Both ballots get counted, Mikalsen said.

Despite having drop boxes eliminated, there exists a vulnerability with absentee ballots that anyone can request.

Voting is really a two-week process in Wisconsin, so absentee ballots are mailed out in regards to a month prior to the voting period begins.

Mikalsen explained a large numbers of ballots are circulating for weeks prior to the election, which leaves the machine available to potential fraud.

Another problem is that prosecuting election fraud reaches the discretion of the district attorneys representing each one of the 72 counties.

Mikalsen said that concern about election fraud in districts varies, as does the probability of prosecution.

It can raise accountability problems with many people, he said.

Securing voting regulations depends upon in case a Republican governor gets elected this season, he said.

Wisconsin Democratic Gov. Tony Evers has refused to sign Republican-backed legislation to treat vulnerabilities in the election system, he added.

We have been in a hard circumstance within Wisconsin because we shall need to fight many of these issues out in the courts, and that does take time, he said.
